My Favorite Gachapon of January 2026 – Top 5

Gachapon, also known as Japanese capsule toys, continue to surprise me every year — and 2026 has been especially strong. From functional accessories to bizarre collectibles that somehow become desk staples, these capsule toys prove that creativity thrives in small plastic spheres. Below are my personal picks for the best gachapon of 2026, ranked from #5 to #1, based on charm, uniqueness, and how hard they were to forget once I pulled them from the machine.

5. Mini Omen “Ganko-chan” Gachapon

The Mini Omen Ganko-chan gachapon is a simple yet oddly expressive capsule toy. “Ganko” loosely translates to stubborn, and that personality really comes through in the design. This gachapon is meant to be used as a hair accessory for ponytails, giving it a functional edge that many capsule toys lack.

While I can’t personally wear it, Ganko-chan still stands out thanks to its minimal design and cute, slightly defiant expression. It’s the kind of gachapon that feels understated at first — but grows on you the longer you look at it.

4. Kinnikuman (Muscle Man) Gachapon Figure

Kinnikuman, also known as Muscle Man, is one of those classic Japanese characters that somehow works perfectly in gachaponform. There are several color variations, but I ended up pulling the black version, which is both feels slightly odd, but it's cool!

What really makes this capsule toy special is that it’s functional — Kinnikuman can hold a pen, pencil, or any small object that fits in his hands. It’s bizarre, funny, and practical all at once, which is exactly why it earns its spot among my favorite gachapon this month.

3. Fuggler Mini Collectibles

"Fugly" is back! Fuggler mini collectibles are hard to explain — and that’s kind of the point. They’re ugly, cute, unsettling, and strangely charming all at the same time. I’m still not entirely sure whether I love mine or hate it.

But here’s the thing: I can’t get rid of it. These gachapon toys have a personality that sticks with you, making them oddly memorable compared to more traditional capsule figures. Love them or not, Fugglers definitely make an impression.

2. Panda Ana “Gyu Gyu” Gachapon Toy

The Panda Ana Gyu Gyu gachapon is equal parts creepy and adorable. It depicts a mass of sheep, or other animals, compressed into a single ball, which immediately made me think of Katamari Damacy. There’s something morbid about it — yet it’s also undeniably cute.

One surprising detail is the weight. For a capsule toy, it’s heavier than expected, which gives it a satisfying, premium feel. This  gachapon  thrives on contrast, and that’s exactly why it ranks so high.

1. Chikuwa Piggy Bank Gachapon (February 2026 Favorite)

At the top of my list is the Chikuwa Piggy Bank, hands down my favorite gachapon of February 2026. It’s chikuwa. It’s a piggy bank. And somehow, it’s also a rabbit.

I will admit, it's playing a little safe with such a popular series, but that's what makes it so hard to deny its charm. This capsule toy perfectly captures what makes gachapon special: creativity paired with real functionality. It’s charming, confusing, and impossible not to smile at. As far as gachapon collectibles go, this one completely stole the show in 2026.
